Friday Five

Yayyyy it's finally Friday - this was week one of hell week. I have probably the most hectic week next week and have no clue how I'll get through it, except for the fact that my semi is next Saturday and I can't wait! I'm just gonna forewarn you that this F5 is pretty much gonna be an Alpha Chi edition!
{one}As usual, my Friday Five is coming late, but especially because last night was my sorority's Big/Little Reveal. After a week of hints and clues and my big making me a fake facebook page to screw with me, I'm SO SO SO happy to have gotten my top choice Big! I'm obsessed with her, and have been every single day since we met. She also looks almost exactly like me, so there's that too.. Wanna see her?

{two}So of course I have to showcase my three days of gifts from my biggie.. so day one:

It was red and green themed for Alpha Chi. She made me a champagne glass with a glittered stem and these adorable letters and my first AXO canvas to add to my wall.

{three}Day two..

She made me a chevron monogrammed canvas in Trinidad colors (I love herrr!!), and wine glasses with a chalkboard stem so you can write on it, and another pair of absolutely amazing wooden letters, a picture frame to put our first official photo in, and a chalkboard with some (fake) clues!

{four}Day three!

She gave me a lot of Princess stuff and it started to screw with me and made me think I was part of the Royal fam (turns out it was a clue, because my fam is an offspring of the royal fam). She made a gold glittered star saying little (which is actually a clue for my family), and a pink picture frame, and a huge pink blanket with AXO on it! I have the best big in the world.. She also cleverly made me do a puzzle to figure out my clues for the third day..

{five}Okay this is unrelated to Alpha Chi, but I've officially began moving my blog over to Blogger. I love being self-hosted on Wordpress but it makes it so much more difficult for everything. I don't know if I will regret this decision later, let's hope not.. but until then, Blogger it is! It's gonna be on private until it's fully transferred over and designed, but I can't wait for you to see it!

Have a great weekend, y'all.. I'm gonna #backthatazzup with some jams to represent how cold it is outside:

10 fall wardrobe essentials

Guess who's back? And pre-scheduled this time? This girl!
Side note: I was pre-scheduled for Monday but WP decided to freak out and NOT post this. So yeah..
Another side note: I'm looking to switch to Blogger, just for the ease of use and the ability to custom design my blog. If anyone knows a simple or cheap way I can switch my blog over without losing followers/posts/comments, PLEASE let me know and I will love you for life.

1 / 2 / 3 // 4 / 5 / 6 // 7 / 8 / 9

So everyone knows how much I looooove fall. I mean I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to fall fashions. The weather, the boots, comfy sweaters and apple picking. Not to quote Zac Brown and all but, life is good today.

So there are some things that I think everyone should have for the fall. No it's not a pumpkin spice latte from Starbs, although those are the perfect accessory. But rather ironically, the Caribbean girl is gonna list her essentials for the fall - ELLLL OH ELLL. This is a big joke, but here goes..

[one] a good, well-fitting pair of skinny jeans
Whether it's light or dark, or distressed or not, investing in a good pair of skinny jeans is essential for the fall, and every season of the year. Skinny jeans are the easiest to tuck into a pair of boots, with some cute fall loafers or just a pair of flats.

[two] the perfect fall brown riding boot
Riding boots and fall go together like peanut butter and jelly, and seriously fall wouldn't be complete without the perfect shade of brown pair of riding boots. They can be paired with leggings, jeans or even with a skirt or dress, and look cute with virtually anything. I'm a firm believer that you can mix black and brown, and I always do it especially with my riding boots. My tip: invest in one good pair that will last you a couple years rather than buying cheap pairs every year. I bought a $200 pair last fall that are still as good as new, and the $60 pair of black boots I bought fell apart after one season.

[three] oversized sweaters
As soon as it's cold, it's the perfect temperature for oversized sweaters. These look cute on almost everybody and you can really show off your style and personality through the sweaters you wear. Pairing them with jeans or leggings make the perfect fall outfit.

[four] white tee
No closet would be complete without some basic tees for layering. Layering is essential for the fall to keep you warm and fashionable, and you can never go wrong with a basic white tee. This can be thrown under a cardigan or sweater, or even break out a blazer for a more polished look with jeans and boots.

[five] colored jeans
Mustard and wine are two of my favorite shades for the fall this year, so investing in a cute pair of colored jeans - especially in those two colors - open up a whole range of outfits for you. Pair a colored jeans with a neutral top or sweater, and dress it up with a statement scarf, or pair them with a textured top and neutral scarves and have fun. Mixing and matching is essential for making the most out of any wardrobe.

[six] black leggings
Probably one of my best purchases this season was a pair of sturdy black leggings. "Splurge" on a pair of great leggings - and by splurge I mean buy a $40 pair instead of a $20 that will show more flesh than you intended. Ensure they are not see-through, and even so, do not wear leggings as pants. ever. Throw them on with an oversized tee or sweater, and tuck them into a pair of boots for a casual but easy look for the fall.

[seven] scarves
There are definitely two types of scarves I think everyone should have for the fall - thick scarves and statement scarves. Thick scarves are essential for those days when it's seriously freezing and you need something to warm your entire body. Throw a big knit scarf over a pair of jeans and a white tee, and look casual, cute and warm! Statement scarves are the perfect pop to any outfit and can make an outfit look ten times better. Look for earthy tones to compliment your fall wardrobe.

[eight] comfy cardigans in every color
You know your favorite cardigan that you throw over everything whenever it gets a little bit chillier? Go back to the store and seriously buy it in every single color. I (stupidly) only bought two colors of my favorite cardigan this season and the store is now sold out and no other cardigan compares to those two. Cardigans go over anything, and can be dressed up or dressed down. I bought a mustard yellow cardigan that I swear by - mark my words: mustard is a thing this year.

[nine] chambray shirt
You may remember this post about the many many ways to wear a chambray shirt. Well it's true. It's the most versatile piece in your closet and can be paired with jeans, white pants, leggings, under sweaters, under cardigans, with skirts or dresses, seriously anyway possible. Investing in a good-fitting (read: not too tight or snug) chambray shirt that you can layer is a must-do for this fall.

[ten] jewelry
Although jewelry's always a closet essential, pairing statement necklaces with sweaters and button downs, or playing up your arm candy is a must-do for fall! You're never fully dressed without a smile - and at least one piece of jewelry. I don't leave my room without my initial rings, my Alex and Ani bracelets, the cross bracelet I got for my birthday and others. Always get dressed up to the fullest :)

So there's a Caribbean girl's must-have list for her fall wardrobe. Happy Tuesday everyone..

Friday Five

Happy Friday! Anyone remember this?

Betcha didn't think I'd make you watch that, huh? I know, I'm corny. Well, the same producer who came out with that one created this little gem. She must really love chinese food!

Last night officially kicked off Big/Little Week. I submitted my list yesterday, the bigs were informed last night and my heart just can't take it. Reveal is next Thursday and I can't even handle this, I just want my biggie! :( I already got my heart broken when my #1 choice told me she didn't get a little. So there's that..

My assignment for my Photography class this week was "street photography", and Caroline was supposed to make it to NYC last Sunday, but we all remember that Open Bar incident. So that didn't happen. Sooo, I had to go to New Hay Hay and it was terrifying, but I ended up turning it into a street portraits shoot, and I actually kinda like how some of these pics came out.

This weekend is gonna be a big fat lame one, cause I have work allll day tomorrow and then I have to shoot photos on Sunday again. So there goes any chances of me having fun this weekend.

Everyone here knows how much I love Pinterest, so try not to cry when you watch this one. Trust me, it was hard! Is it too early to start planning my wedding? Or at least how my future husband is gonna propose to me?

Sorry I'm lame today. It happens from time to time..

Just sitting here, remembering to write a post for the first time in almost a week.. #badbloggerproblems.

So my excuses?
Friday Five was supposed to post BUT my internet was down and I wasn't trudging to the library on a Friday for the tech centre to fix my internet (they never fix it anyways..) so I did write the post, it just wasn't posted. Boo you whore!

Monday.. well. It was a Monday. So that's excuse enough, right?

This weekend was.. well.. see for yourself.

Toads Place. That is all. Anyone know of my little froggy friend?

Anyways, me being all college kid and all, I received the #VarsityVoxBox from Influenster.
I propped it up on my laptop, so the AXO sticker isn't included, obvs..

The VoxBox came with samples of Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Wash, Airheads Xtremes Bites, Kiss Nail Dress, NYC New York Color Big Bold Plumping & Shine Lip Gloss, and Tide Pods.

Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Wash:I liked the sample, and it smelt really great but I have sensitive skin and using it terrified me. After using it, my face felt truly cleansed, although I did miss the exfoliating beads from my usual face wash. At $6.49, I'd probably buy it just for the clean feeling and radiant skin.

Airheads Xtremes Bites:When I opened the box and saw this, I was really excited because my favorite thing in the world is sour straws. But after having a few, the Airheads aren't that sour, and more sweet. Sure, it was nice, but it was kind of an unnecessary candy that I wouldn't go out of my way to pick up.

Kiss Nail Dress:I was so disappointed when I saw these in the package, not because I wouldn't use nail strips, but because the print was just so freakin tacky. Like, I don't want zebra nails, I'm sorry. On top of that, I don't have nails so I didn't even try these, but they're just not cute at all. Although nail strips are easier to apply and at $6.99 are much cheaper than a manicure, they only last about a week tops while good manicures last two to three weeks. So, I'd skip these strips and go to the nail salon instead.

NYC New York Color Big Bold Plumping & Shine Lip Gloss:I'm not a huge lip gloss fan, and I'd rather grab a tube of chapstick than some sticky lipgloss, but I tried this out for the sake of the blog post, and I noticed a burning sensation (the plumping at work). It stayed on for a relatively long time, and at $3.99, it was a pretty good deal.

Tide Pods:I use Tide Pods for washing my clothes at college, just cause it's easy and hey i'm lazy and don't know how to do my laundry, so yeah. But I really really like them and it makes doing laundry a million times easier. The Pods are a 3 in 1 detergent that have detergent, plus a stain fighter and brightener all in one little packet. I usually buy a huge pack from Target, and I recommend it entirely.

So there you have it. A glimpse into the life of a college kid. They should have included some sample shots for us to try too, cause we all know that's what college really is anyways..

Apps Every College Student Should Have

I haven't sat down and wrote a real post that wasn't sponsored or stupid in a while. Like you know, posts that are actually useful? Yeah, those..

But anyways, I've been thinking a lot about how we perceive technology and how the older generation perceives technology. My mom always sees the internet and iPhones and apps as something negative which upsets me cause I'm all about the media and hey - that's potentially my future job! Technology can actually help us though.. and there are a bunch of unique applications designed to help out students and "Generation Y" in general. So I did what I do best.. I opened my iPhone, and created a list.

{one} MOXOkay so the first app every student needs on their smartphone is MOX. It's available for tons of colleges and universities, so check to see if your school uses MOX, but it's essentially this application that has school maps, your class schedule, your class roster and announcements on it, plus more features. It's really useful and a lot of colleges are no longer creating their own apps.

{two} React Mobile
this is a sponsored statement, however all opinions are my own.
So you may remember React from a couple weeks ago, but it's this super cool safety app that essentially acts as the blue light system in your pocket. It can follow you, send your location to friends and family, and with the touch of a button contact authorities. It's not just for emergency situations, but for times when you're walking or running alone, going hiking in a new area or meeting new people for the first time in an unfamiliar location.

{three} 30/30I learnt about this app through Pinterest, but it's essentially this app where, say you have only five hours allotted to do a million things, you can set the amount of time you want to spend on each thing, and it will alert you when it's time to move on to the next. So, I have fifteen minutes of blogging time left before I start doing my math homework.

{four} MintMint is a free financial tracking app that lets you link all of your accounts and manage your expenses in one place, which is really useful for college students. You can't move funds, but no one else has access to the app but you, and it's password protected. You can track costs like food, gas, rent, and can categorize them based on clothing, hobbies, bars/alcohol, food, and more. You can even get notifications about unusual activity, which is really neat to keep track of your spending and your accounts all in one place. It even alerts you when one of your accounts is getting to a low balance so you can avoid fees!

{five} Grades 3
Grades is a really cool app that's seriously a savior for all college students that want to maintain their good grades. The app requires you to enter the assignments, and the percentage worth of each assignment and it helps determine your grade in the class and what you need to get on the remaining assignments in order to get the grade you want.

{six} SelfControl
Okay so this isn't an iPhone/smartphone app, but one for your computer, but I cannot stress enough how important and amazing this app is. SERIOUSLY, everyone go and download it right now. Basically, it's the self control that none of us have, and you can block any websites for as long as you want (I think it goes up to 24 hours) and you can't get out of it, even if you exit the app - so you're forced to do work. For extreme procrastinators, it even allows you to create a list of websites you can go onto, and you're only given access to those. It's a must for midterms/finals week.

Good luck on midterms, y'all! Hope the school year's going well.

Dress Your Tech

this is a sponsored post. all thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

You may remember my post over summer about iPhone cases under $50 and how absolutely adorable they all were. Well, while I was scrolling on Zazzle, I discovered Jessica Marie Design.

Jessica is a blogger, a designer, a sorority alum and a crafter. I first found her blog and started following only to discover that she designed wallpapers, binder covers, sorority goodies and even iPhone cases. Just reading through her blog inspires me to drive to my nearest Michael's and drop $200 on supplies and craft all night. I can't wait till Big/Little reveal so I get to craft for my big!

Not only does she sell her super-cute tech accessories (tech-sessories?), but she also sells wallpapers, paper templates and more on her Etsy shop! Her "Dress Your Tech" designs are my fave! Plus, if you follow her blog, you'll see she posts free downloads to some of her favorite wallpapers, as well as creates special sorority wallpapers for those of us who are obsessed with our sisters. Her blog is essentially my Pinterest board on one page, because she makes all those crafts I pin and say I will but never do. She's sorority girls' Santa Claus. But really.. more than 28,000 people agree with me. She's amazeballs.

Everyone now knows how obsessed I am with monograms. and gold. and chevron. and my iPhone. so please, combine them all and what do you get? Caroline's dream in life essentially. (OK, i'm kidding - I have more goals for myself in life, but still!) So when Jessica sent me this amazing, perfect, phenomenal iPhone case that was pink and gold chevron, with a C on the back, I was elated. She's Santa, I tell you.

Wanna see?

Does that not just scream Caroline? Cause I'm pretty sure I opened the package and it was already hollering.

BUT my favorite part is that it comes with Vibe. You know how the iPhone speakers suck? and they say to make it louder to put it in a cup and it plays louder? Well that's Vibe! So my music plays loud and my phone is cute, so I can play my tunes all night long with no cups in sight!

So, stop by Jessica's blog or go shop at her Zazzle or Etsy stores, I guarantee you, you won't regret it. I don't..

Fall Fashion Trends

It's Fall, y'all! Except Connecticut didn't get the memo and it was 75 all weekend and I was not a happy camper. Is it so hard to just wear boots and a sweater in October? Apparently yes! Anyways, fall's my favorite season for the fashion, and my friend Christine agrees with me! Check out her picks for her fave fall fashion trends.

Hi everyone! I'm Christine from Life With A Side Of Coffee. I am a recent college graduate who is starting her career and just trying to make a place for myself in this big ol' world. I live in Chicago and love anything a twenty-something would love: finding new places to eat, drinking wine with friends, sitting in coffee shops reading books, cooking, shopping, spending time with the people I care about and so much more. I'm just living my life and blogging in the process about everything from celebrities to recipes, TV shows and new music I've found. I believe all you need to get by in life is a cup of coffee and a glass of wine. So come on over and say hi!!!!

Anyway, today I'm giving you guys some of my favorite fashion trends for fall. Do you guys have any faves?

Ok, so sweaters, scarves and boots are obviously a must. Everyone talks about them every year. But how do you style them? I personally love wearing chunky sweaters that I can wrap myself up in. I did just get a bunch of cute sweaters to wear in a more fashionable way though. You know? Tailored ones with cute patterns. And scarves are great all around. Honestly, I wish the weather was cool year-round so they would always be in season. As for boots, I have a pair similar in color to the ones in the picture that are heeled and I love them. I've had them for four years and they're still going strong. I also love suede scrunchy boots and booties.

But the best fashion accessory for fall is by far...

A warm cup of coffee. Whether this is your normal, everyday cup of joe or a super tasty pumpkin spice latte, nothing makes a fall day perfect better than a hot cup of coffee. This is my favorite part of fall. Sitting outside and warming myself up with some coffee.

So what do you love about fall? Come on over to my blog, have a visit and tell me!

Yum! Some coffee makes fall even better - can't wait to snuggle up in comfy sweaters with a cup of tea or Starbucks' pumpkin spice latte. Speaking of Starbs, want to win $105 to spend on all your fave treats? I'm your girl! Good luck!

Happy Fall! Stay warm :)

Friday Five and a Giveaway!

Happy Friday, y'all!

I know I've been MIA for the past couple weeks, but I'm trying to start being a good blogger and scheduling my posts!
{one}I've decided to suspend my Wednesday Wisdom posts temporarily. I love writing those pieces, but writing them every week has taken the motivation out of me, and recently my posts have been sub-par at best. I'll write WW sporadically or whenever I feel like I have something to say, but right now I'm going to hold off on them.

{two}Me being a bad blogger posted yesterday's post really late, so if you haven't already, I'd love you to check out my review of Pink Pineapple!

{three}If any of you follow me on Twitter, you would know that I've been obsessed with GREEK for the past month or so. After watching religiously on Netflix, I'm so sad to say I've finished the series. I cried my eyes out for the finale and my roommates all think I'm 50 shades of cray, but seriously though.. I wasn't ready for it to end!

{four}At my first chapter meeting for Alpha Chi last week, I was awarded the Wisdom award of the week - how cute is that!?! When I asked why, it turns out they loved the blog post I wrote about finding home.. My love for Iota Phi grows more and more every day. SPEAKING OF WHICH, Lilly came out with her Alpha Chi print, and I'm obsessed and everyone needs to buy it for me! Lilly lovers, unite!!

Lastly, I've teamed up with Helene and friends to give away $105 to Starbsss.. yum! Wanna win? Lindasy// Pursuit of Pink    Melyssa// The Nectar Collective   Jackie//Jade and Oak

Chelsea// Lost in Travels        Casey// True Colours

Monogram Madness

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

You should know by now that I'm obsessed with my monogram. Although I hate having the same middle and last initial, I would literally monogram everything if I could. Monogrammed towels? I'll take them! Monogrammed headband? So cute! Monogrammed tees? YES!

So when The Pink Pineapple Shop sent me a couple shirts to review for her, I was ecstatic! Not passing up some awesome tees! They arrived really quickly seeing as she made three for me, and my roommates were literally all so jealous when I opened the package! Not only were they absolutely adorable, but they were super comfortable! I've been wearing them around my apartment for weeks and they just get comfier! The colors hold up really well in the wash too - they've been washed like three times already and are still bright as ever! They're what I would call a must-have!

Don't believe me?

I was lucky enough to receive a State Monogrammed Tee, a Lilly Pulitzer Circle Monogram Print, and this Anchor Pocket tee, which is a mix between her anchor monogram tee and her Lilly pocket tee.

Intrigued? I was! Everywhere I wore these, I received so many compliments, and Katie from Pink Pineapple is such a doll to work with and can really do almost anything you ask. Example? Instead of giving me a state monogrammed tee, she HAND-EMBROIDERED the Trinidad outline rather than a state, because you all know I'm no American!

Tell me that's not amazing? She went out of her way to embroider and monogram a state tee for me, but with my country! She earns brownie points for that one!

Want your favorite Lilly print? She has some great prints to choose from and you can customize your tee so it's monogrammed in Lilly (what girl doesn't want that?!) See!

And maybe you're not patriotic or into Lilly, but you're nautical.. Pink Pineapple helps you get nauti with this awesome anchor pocket tee. The listing's no longer on her page, but I'm sure if you're still interested you two can work something out!
So basically, moral of the story is.. Pink Pineapple is amazing! Now whenever I want anything monogrammed, I'll be contacting Katie.. or better yet, if I want some Alpha Chi stuff, she's my girl! So sorority girls, contact her for some personalized soror goodness! The best part is her prices are crazy good! All the shirts I reviewed are under $30, and she has tons of other awesome stuff like sorority bags, football dresses and more!!

Happy Shopping, y'all! Tell her I sent you :)
