Macy's Monday: Spring Breakdown

This is a sponsored post. All opinions expressed, however, are my own and that of The Caro Diaries.

Another Monday, another reason to online shop.. it's starting to get a little warmer in Connecticut, and I want to break out spring dresses, graphic crop tops and some new accessories. So I went searching in the mstylelab section of Macy's, and picked a few of my favorites to share with you.

I'm really into bright colors and prints for my dresses - like that black and blue shift dress, which is to die for, or the T-back coral high-low dress. I'm a big fan of statement jewelry this year, and I love pairing a big necklace with any and every thing. This gold MK bracelet is simple and stunning, and I love the loop design - perfect for your arm candy stack! Plus, can we talk about how cute that handbag is? It's the Céline bag for those who can't afford it, aka everyone. At just under $70, it's the perfect addition to your Spring and Summer wardrobe.

Is anyone as excited for Spring as I am?

Macy's excited too, and today's the last day you can spin to win either $10, $25, $100 or $500.

Throughout all of March, Macy's is hosting the "Spin and Win" contest, where students can log into the Macy's app on their phone (it's available for both Androids and iPhones - but shh I use my iPad!) , and spin a virtual wheel for a chance to win up to $500 in gift cards. PLUS. All participants will automatically receive a 20% off coupon. And if that alone doesn't tickle your pickle, you can spin up to 5 times a day. A. DAY. YES. GO. DOWNLOAD IT NOW. All thanks to #macyscampustour

525, 600 minutes

How do you measure a year?
March 29th marks one year since I officially created The Caro Diaries. A year ago today, I logged onto Wordpress.com, typed in my domain name and wrote my first post

Over the last year, I talked about going through homesickness, how I felt about fashion glamorizing suicide, and prepared college kids to head back to school. I shared my favorite makeup hacks, and some discounts you can get with your college ID too.

I joined a sorority (and spoiler alert: love it enough to give away planners and letters). I admitted I suck at stuff, and told you what to do when you're hungover - not that it ever helps.

I moved from free Wordpress to self-hosting, and then my blog crashed, and then I moved over to Blogger and started a new chapter

I crafted a little, and watched a ton of Netflix - and got a bit addicted. I even shared some shaving mishaps.

But the best part of this year is all the relationships and friendships I've made from this blog. All my blog friends, the companies I've worked with, cards I've received and emails I get asking for advice. No products, no reviews, no free stuff will amount to the happiness I feel when I think back to all of the relationships that stemmed from this year. From that one night, sitting with my laptop open, and my words just flowing.

So here's to many more years of blogging, and for the support I receive and continue to receive.
So thank you. And to thank you, keep your eyes out for a big giveaway this week.

As always,

Giveaway of the Week: Graduation Sash

Graduation is nearing - and it's kind of freaking me out.
No, no, I'm not graduating. I'm just a sophomore. But my big is, and I'm totally not ready for it.

My big is kind of amazing. She's the best friend I could have asked for, and although it sucks that she was a Senior when I was a New Member, she's like me in an older version. Plus, she'll be at our campus 15 minutes away for grad school, so she's not leaving me any time soon.

But in commemoration of having only like a month and a half with her before she's no longer an active member in our sorority, I'm recapping some of my fave pics with tamagaga herself.

Isn't she lovely? Yeah, she's fantastic. (ps. little secret - she's sitting right next to me and has no idea i'm writing about her.. sorry biggie!)

But anyways, I started thinking about how badly I don't want her, or any of the seniors, to graduate, but I'm being nice and I'm actually making their (and your) lives a hell lot easier.

I'm partnering up with Greek Life Threads again for another giveaway - except this time it's for you seniors! I know, it sucks leaving your chapter and the good old days of philanthropy events, socials and getting dressed up for absolutely no reason. But luckily for you, you get to rock that graduation sash with your affiliation on it, and you get to wear it proud cause you made it through four years - and let's be real it certainly wasn't easy.

Greek Life Threads have this partner company called Custom Sash, and they make any and every kind of sash, but especially graduation sashes, and they are fab!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

This Theta girl is loving her Custom Sash, will you?
Enter to see! Giveaway runs until Thursday 3rd at 11:59pm.

Bad day? Pinch Me!

This is a sponsored post. All opinions expressed, however, are my own and that of The Caro Diaries.

You know sometimes you just have a crappy day? Yeah, today is one of those. I'm officially on the weekend, and it should be exciting right? No. I have so much work to do, everyone is out to irritate me, and I have to work on both Saturday and Sunday 8-4, so I'm not a happy camper today.

But, the only thing that ever really makes me feel better is shopping. I know, i know.. it sounds bad. And it can get bad too, depending on how bad of a day I'm having, and then I discovered PinchMe.

PinchMe is basically a box that sends you free samples of products you've always wanted to try, but don't want to buy the full-size unless you were actually sure. Now, when you see that shampoo you wanted months ago, you can buy it cause you've already tried it without wasting $12 on it.

Now, instead of lusting over that new dry deodorant that everyone is talking about, you can actually try it, and then buy it..

Every Tuesday at noon EST, PinchMe releases some to-die-for samples from top companies. All you have to do is login and choose your samples, and wham, bam, thank you ma'am - they're on their way.
Then, a week or two later, a cute little blue box will appear at your door, and you're free to try out these products at your leisure. If you like it, you can log back in to the site and find out where to buy it - and even if you don't like it, you can leave feedback and become eligible for rewards and discounts, etc. Lucky you huh?

Recently, I received my own little blue box containing samples of the South Beach Diet granola snack bar, Clear Scalp Hair & Therapy Shampoo and Reviver - a dry deodorant for your clothes.

If you love them (which I do!), just head on over back to PinchMe and select whichever you'd like, and they'll tell you how you can go about getting some for yourself (the real size!)

So consider signing up for PinchMe, and try before you buy.

Have you ever heard of PinchMe?

Macy's Monday on a Tuesday: Business Casual

This is a sponsored post. All opinions expressed, however, are my own and that of The Caro Diaries.
March is coming to an end, and people all around me are getting offers for summer internships. Uhh, except me cause like I haven't heard back at all.. can someone love/hire me?!

I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
I've been lusting over some new business casual clothes since I watched Carrie Bradshaw walked into the office at Interview magazine in every episode of The Carrie Diaries. WHICH BTW can we just talk about how it's cancelled, and i'm just not okay with it..

can we talk about this? I'm loving the color blocked panels - business casual AND slimming!

love that structured neckline!

love the white peplum!

I'm all about the slimming color blocking apparently - but hey, it's what you gotta do when you gotta donk.

SO cute and different! I love it!

the perfect pants to go from work to a night out! thinking of getting one for myself, and at $30, why not?!

So.. the moral of the story is that I still don't have an internship, but if I get one I'd look damn cute for work everyday. Soooo.. companies? LOVE MEEE..

Happy Career Fair Season, y'all..

and while you wait by your phone for that internship to call you back, enjoy a little gift from Macy's and me..

Throughout all of March, Macy's is hosting the "Spin and Win" contest, where students can log into the Macy's app on their phone (it's available for both Androids and iPhones - but shh I use my iPad!) , and spin a virtual wheel for a chance to win up to $500 in gift cards. It's the last couple days to win.. so good luck!

Springing Forward

Spring is nearing, although you couldn't tell by the Connecticut weather right now. I'm still wearing a sweater, boots and a coat.. like come onnnn!

But it's funny. I always say this, but I forget how to dress for the warmer months when I get used to the winter weather. I'm so used to throwing on a pair of jeans or leggings and a pair of boots and a sweater or layered shirts, and I really can't remember how I dress for Spring. Do I wear shorts? Do I wear a dress? WHAT DO I WEAR?!

Is it just me who feels this way?
So, I turned to Pinterest - as per usual - for some inspiration for the warm weather.

So how do you dress for Spring? Let's take a look. The weird thing about Spring is that the weather is even more bipolar than normal. It can be a gorgeous 60 degrees one day, and the next day it's 35 and you're freezing. I try not to get too excited over the warm weather, because in Connecticut it doesn't really last long. Layers are crucial so you can add or take off when necessary, and I'm a big fan of wearing short pants with a long-sleeved tee or layering sweaters over it, or wearing a pair of jeans with a short sleeved or sleeveless shirt. The weirdest thing for me is gonna be to put on a pair of flats or sandals. Weird.

So there's some inspiration for ya.. even though I'm still lost and have no clue what my wardrobe is gonna look like for the next few months, but we'll see..

Macy's Monday: Sole Searching

This is a sponsored post. All opinions expressed, however, are my own and that of The Caro Diaries.

Spring is the perfect time to do some soul searching. The weather is warmer, flowers are blooming, you can actually wear shorts.. it's a wonderful time all around. But it's also the perfect time to go sole searching.

I was browsing on Macy's website - it's a regular thing I do when I want to torture myself, especially now that my laptop is costing me upwards of $500 to fix - and right there, in the mstylelab section were some of the cutest shoes I'd seen all season. The best part? They were affordable. Dare I even say… cheap. Don't believe me?
At only $35 and with seven different prints to choose from, these shoes are a must-have for the Spring. I especially love this blue tribal print to add some fun to a boring jeans and t-shirt look. You can pair these with almost anything, and at $35 you definitely should.

Rocket Dog Cyprus Two-Piece Flat
The two-piece shoe trend is everywhere this Spring, and I'm loving this Rocket Dog take on the style. It's available in both black and nude, but I definitely love the black more.
I'm still in a state of shock that these shoes are called "shooties" - I think we may be taking the naming too far, y'all. But these shoes are super cute, and would look awesome with a pair of shorts or a Spring skirt! Count me in.. loving this taupe version.
This shoe is perfect for four reasons: 1) it's a stunning heel - I'm all about the platform, they're definitely easier to walk in. 2) The block heel is a must for this season - seriously in love with it! 3) The ankle strap = enough said. 4) THE COLOR. omg obsessed with mint - perfect color for the season! And it's only $69, and I want it right now..
I'm obsessed with these color-blocked wedges, and it literally just screams Caroline - and at $35, it's super affordable. They even have a tan version that ain't half bad ;)

I'm anxiously waiting for the warm weather so I can break out some new shoes, show off my new pedicure and not have to freeze to death every time I leave my room.. but hey, who needs warmth, right?!

While you're waiting for the warm weather like I am, enjoy a little gift from Macy's and me..

Throughout all of March, Macy's is hosting the "Spin and Win" contest, where students can log into the Macy's app on their phone (it's available for both Androids and iPhones - but shh I use my iPad!) , and spin a virtual wheel for a chance to win up to $500 in gift cards. Friday Five: The Good, Bad and the Giveaway

This post is a bitter sweet one, and quite frankly I'm not sure it'll even get posted because my laptop is being insane so let's cross fingers my 1.5 YEAR OLD MACBOOK allows me to finish this blog post.
{one}
let's start with the bad, shall we? (I like to end on a positive note.. so bad first!) My laptop, which I'm obsessed with, and paid $1,500 for might I add, has decided to abandon me in my time of need. aka my one and a half year old MacBook Pro, which I treat like a Princess, decided to start spazzing out and freezing and shutting off and making three beeping sounds. After spending more than an hour on the phone with Apple Support last night, they told me it was a RAM issue and I needed to replace and upgrade to 8gb of ram. The guy specifically told me to go to Best Buy and have them do it. Best Buy couldn't install if for me, so I bought the RAM and went to an Apple Technician Store within the mall - who then told me Best Buy sold me the wrong RAM and they would replace it with the correct one and install it for me. So I spent about $200 today replacing my RAM, which is supposed to make this thing run amazingly and not spaz or freeze or beep three times. But guess what? IT DID ALL OF THAT. Of course hours later when I'm home and two hours away from the mall.. why wouldn't that be the case? Soooo.. now I'm bawling, stuck with a defective laptop and I'm sure as hell not buying a new one or paying upwards of $400 to fix this. SORRY. I'M IN COLLEGE. If anyone knows how to help me, or has any idea how I can convince Apple to just give me a new laptop so I don't have to cry anymore, I would love that..

{two}
I'm in New Hampshire for a few more days, and I'm going skiing today!!! Woohoooo - the last time I went skiing was four years ago, and it didn't end so well (that'll be a story for another day, but it's hilarious). So wish me luck.. hopefully I don't break a bone or two.

{three}
Reminding everyone that my amazing giveaway for a completely customized lettered sweatshirt is ending tonight at midnight, so get on it and enter for your last chance to rep your sorority, or fraternity, or philanthropy organization. Not in a sorority/fraternity? That's fine, but I'm sure your brother's girlfriend's cousin's ex-boyfriend's mother's best friend's daughter is, and I'm sure she'll love to rep her Panhel pride.

{four}
So.. some good news! I've gotten pretty lucky with opportunities that have come my way in 2014 thus far, and I'm officially a member of the Seventeen Magazine Social Club - which is essentially a way for me to blog for them, and get some pretty cool opportunities for both my blog and for exposure. So stay tuned for some Seventeen Social Club posts because you'll be sure to see them on my blog throughout the year! Having my name on a Seventeen Magazine contract was amazing, and I'm super excited about the opportunity.

{five}
Luckily for me, the good news doesn't stop there.. I found out last week that I was selected to be a Resident Assistant for 2014-2015 at my university! I was so nervous on the day we were supposed to hear, and I saw people who I knew applied telling me that they were rejected, or wait listed, or accepted - and I literally started to panic. When my phone rang from an unknown number, I answered it and it turned out to be the head of the program, someone I had met with a few times over the last two years at Quinnipiac, and he wanted to personally call and congratulate and inform me that I was given the position. I bawled my eyes out, especially when he told me that I'd be a Freshman RA. I'm super excited to welcome all the Class of 2018 Ledges ladies to Quinnipiac next year - hopefully they love me! But RA Caroline (or Raroline as my current RA roommate calls me) is gonna be showing her face on this blog too, and hopefully I'll have some posts about door decorations, and programs and other fun residence hall stuff!

So thank you for reading! Happy Friday and Happy Weekend.. drink to that? I'll let you know how my skiing adventure pans out, and if Apple ever helps me out in this situation, but I may be all cried out at this point. I'll work on it..

And in honor of my laptop not making up it's mind of whether it wants to work or not..
Linking up with Whit

Macy's Monday: Gimme More

This is a sponsored post. All opinions expressed, however, are my own and that of The Caro Diaries.

Spring is coming up - although the weather in the NorthEast shows no indication of this. It's supposed to snow up in VT this week, but I'm going to attempt to ski, so it should be fine…. right?!

Anyways, with Spring on my mind, I keep shopping for my Spring/Summer wardrobe. It's so weird because for my whole life I've lived in Spring clothing, yet once I got adjusted to the Fall and Winter seasons, it's like I forgot how to dress or shop for the warmer weather. But, I still love to browse. Unfortunately, for us in the North East, my warm weather months are limited. We only really get nice weather between May and September, so I hate spending tons of money on these clothes. Luckily, Macy's is pretty affordable, especially the mstylelab section - they have clothes made specifically for us millenials.

The trick is to look for pieces that are versatile, long-lasting and that can work through the different seasons. I've chosen a few pieces that I'll probably be blowing my next paycheck on.

This top is so cute and super versatile - can be paired with jeans, white pants, black pants, anything really - for a night out, a party, a dinner, etc etc.
I also love this top - it's sexy, sleek and versatile. Plus, it's on sale for $39.99, and I think could last you several seasons. Win/Win!
I'm SO into rompers this year, and all my friends keep laughing at me.. but I seriously am obsessed with the trend. I feel like it never goes out of style. I love this one because of the pants. I need a pair of origami-style shorts, and at $46, this romper is a steal for the summer!
Once again, rompers are my go-to. I think there's nothing sexier than a long romper/jumpsuit for a night out. I used to have a white jumpsuit that I loved - and the style is perfect for a night out, a dinner, a party or anything really. I love the style and though this one is a little on the more expensive side at $90, I could see it being something that you keep in your wardrobe for years.

So, next paycheck, I guess we all know where we're shopping.

Luckily for you, Macy's has something in store for you.

The Worst Places To Remember You Forgot To Shave

This is a sponsored post. All opinions, however, are my own and that of The Caro Diaries.

I can't believe that it's Friday already, and I'm officially on Spring Break - it's crazy! This week has been insane - but I'm here and posting so love meeee..
So because it's Spring Break, I started thinking about the worst places to remember that you actually got to shave your legs, or your underarms, or any other region if you know what I mean..

  • airport: hello TSA checks! The last thing you want is to have to put your arms up, and hello!
  • the beach: this one goes without saying - but we don't want any hair anywhere
  • on a date: nobody wants this to happen..
  • a night on the town: short skirt, high heels, and leg hair?
  • running into your ex and his new girlfriend: gotta be the hot ex, right?
  • spring break: a week of unruly behavior calls for being clean shaved, everywhere.
  • at the gym: gym shorts are not meant to be paired with hairy legs - seriously.
  • at a massage: awkward.. hairy legs and someone rubbing them. no.
It's a good thing that I have my favorite razor with me at all times - so even when I realize I'm not shaved, or that I missed a spot - I just grab it out of my purse and go. I've been sharing on my Instagram  where I take my Venus Snap with me.. and I take it everywhere!

You need it when traveling..

You need it for a night out..

You need it at the beach..

Venus Snap is a to-go razor that you can take with you anywhere. It has a mini-handle and comes in a cute compact case, and can fit almost anywhere. It comes with the Venus Embrace blade you know and love, and the pivoting head hugs your curves to get every patch of hair. The best part is all you need is water! No need for shaving cream, because the water-activated ribbon of moisture for smooth glide and easy shaving!

At $10, your legs will thank you.. buy it asap. No lie.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
