Taste Test: The Best (and most filling) 100-Calorie Snack

This taste-off was sponsored by Yoplait, however all opinions expressed are my own and that of The Caro Diaries.

I don't usually talk much about weight loss and eating healthy on the blog, but it's something that I try to live by and work on every day. I try to choose healthier options, or work out to make up for eating really crappy some days (although I know this isn't a fix..), and I try to follow strict diet regimens by counting calories and tracking Points and all that jazz.

So when I was asked to taste test two yogurts - Yoplait Greek 100 Strawberry Yogurt, and Chobani Simply 100 Strawberry Yogurt, I knew I had to do it!

Both yogurts are only 100 calories and 2 Weight Watchers® Points each, which is great for all of us because not only is that like nothing, they're super filling so it's like basically begging us to not reach our max points/calorie limit per day. Does anyone else not get excited when they do better than they should!?

Not only are these both filling, they're wallet-friendly too. They both cost me $1.00 at Walmart, although I didn't check the price after taxes, but you get the point. One Dollar.

100 CALORIES?! Do you know what 100 calories is? A sniff of a Snickers bar, a lick of an ice cream cone, just looking at a cupcake. Those are all 100 calories. You know what else is 100 calories? These YOPLAIT AND CHOBANI YOGURTS.

I knew they were both fabulous, but I had to do a taste test, so I had someone take off the covers, blindfold me and feed me each yogurt. Which one won?

(chobani on the left, yoplait on the right)

The Yoplait won, surprisingly. I'm usually a Chobani fan when it comes to Greek yogurt - and I just didn't know how I felt about Yoplait making my Greek yogurt, but I found that there were a few distinct differences between the two.

For one, the Chobani yogurt had a bit of a bitter after taste compared to the Yoplait yogurt, which tasted fine afterwards. The Chobani yogurt didn't even have that strong of a strawberry flavor, considering it was only "strawberry on the bottom", and I definitely loved the strawberry in the Yoplait yogurt. Both yogurts were creamy, but I loved finding little strawberry bits in my Yoplait - it felt more natural, and like I wasn't eating processed food.

All in all, Yoplait wins this round. But at $1.00, and 100 calories each, you can't go wrong with either.

What do you think? Would you take the taste off?

yogurt texture, smooth, bitter aftertaste, not very strawberry,
taste - yoplait: has pieces of strawberry in it, creamy, very more strawberry, no bad aftertaste,

  3. Agree - great taste and great price, but it's 100 calorie packaging that I love for an easy snack!
